Meet Hari Simran | ShoutoutLA
Hi Hari Simran, how does your business help the community?
The services I provide through my business (HariSimran Ayurveda) offer the community holistic healthcare which includes Ayurvedic coaching and counseling, yoga and meditation as well as pre and postpartum care. I have been seeing clients of all ages and from all different backgrounds for over 10 years. In my holistic approach, I serve each person according to their unique needs and personality. I believe that the more we are able to feel good, whole, balanced and rejuvenated on an individual level, the more we can be there for one another, for our families and for the greater community. Healing relationships, finding passion/inspiration at work, igniting creativity are all results of making peace with the body and working through the symptoms that can arise from lack of self love, confidence, increase in stress and overall physical and emotional fatigue. Using the ancient science of Ayurveda and the highly effective practices of coaching and counseling, I have had the pleasure of supporting and continuing to support many people in reaching their health goals and discovering more peace, love and joy within themselves. This self discovery and healing simultaneously helps them mend and greatly improve their personal and professional relationships creating a positive ripple effect within their world and the lives of those around them.
What should our readers know about your business?
HariSimran Ayurveda (my business) is about supporting each person on their path to healing while uncovering, acknowledging and connecting to their true and authentic self. I do this using the ancient science of Ayurvedic medicine along with counseling, coaching, yoga and meditation. This unique combination of practices offers a highly effective way to truly heal physical and mental symptoms and aliments while creating a healthy foundation that will serve people the rest of their lives.
It wasn’t until about 5 years after completing Ayurveda school that I felt confident enough to make healthcare my full-time job. It took time for me to build relationships and experience working for other people all the while still seeing clients on the side. Building those relationships before starting my full-time practice was crucial for me in eventually taking that leap into becoming my own boss and starting this amazing company I now call HariSimran Ayurveda.
The first few years of having my own business was very much a learning curve. There was so much freedom and yet a tremendous amount of work to be done. I wore every hat! It took about 2 years for me to get into a groove and learn about myself, how I worked best, where and who I could ask for support, and my biggest lesson, Time Management.
Overcoming the challenges within starting my business meant simultaneously working on myself. Trusting my decision making, learning to forgive myself if I made a mistake, being open to reaching out and asking for help and advice from those I looked up to and found inspiring. I re-connected with my mentors, created systems that I understood and put in the time so that I could feel a sense of stability and foundation to be able to support my clients in the best ways.
I have learned that my business life and personal life can mix and for me it is important to allow both to feed into one another. It’s a dance and I continue to learn new moves everyday.
I am so proud of all the clients I have had the privilege to work with over the years and all the current clients I see today. I am proud of their healing journeys and tremendous accomplishments. I am excited to continue forward in helping more people find peace within their own bodies. I look forward to every journey I get to take with each client, continuing to learn and for the tremendous positive impact this work has on the greater community.
I want the world to know that Hari Simran Ayurveda serves all people of all ages, genders and backgrounds. I am in alignment with HASE (Health at Every Size) and will respect and support each person in meeting them where they are at and encouraging them to thrive through self discovery and trust.
I hope that my message and story can inspire people to know that they have a great ability to heal, that each person can make peace with their body and live a happy, healthful life. In my personal and professional experience, to ask for support is brave, courageous and compassionate.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love this question! I’ll list some of my favorite things.
Mornings:
With a week long trip I would start the days with my favorite hikes in the Santa Monica mountains. A few of them being the Los Liones hike with ocean views and hike peaks, Will Rodgers and a few out in Malibu. Of course before our morning hike adventures we would stop at my favorite coffee place in Brentwood, Cafe Luxxe. The best lattes in town!
Afternoons:
We would need to refuel of course! I would take them to my favorite places for lunch: Pizza + salad at Gujsta’s in Venice, Kreation on Montana, double zero for more pizza (i love pizza), Erewhon deli section (always a fun and delicious meal).
After lunch we would take a walk around Abbott Kinney or the venice canals until we were ready to head to the spa. The Olympic spa is a must with anyone visiting LA. They have soaking tubs, warm sea salt rooms and every kind of massage you can think of. It is an amazing place and so needed in the middle of a busy city.
Evening:
I am a music lover and find that one of the best things about LA is the live music offerings all year around. If it were summer time I would get us tickets to see whoever was playing at the Hollywood bowl. What’s better than packing a picnic and getting to experience live music outside? It’s a dream.
Another spot I love for more intimate live concerts is McCabes in West LA. A small venue with some of the most talented musicians I have seen.
Before the concert we’d get dinner in a different side of town.
Diablo on Sunset for the best veggie tacos. Gracias Madres in Beverly hills for amazing (very creative) vegan Mexican food. Italian at Jon and Vinny’s.
And of course dessert at Jennies Ice cream or a few slices of pie at the pie hole. Yum!
Another late-afternoon/evening would be spending time at the ocean in Malibu and ending the day with dinner at Malibu Farm Restaurant. An amazing spot over looking the ocean.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have been so blessed to receive support, mentorship and education from some amazing practitioners and teachers. A few people that I want to give recognition to are as follows:
Mary Thompson who was my main teacher and mentor all through my Ayurvedic schooling and residency. She was not only one of the best teachers I have had, she continues to be an amazing mentor, friend and overall inspiration.
To my parents who have been my biggest supports as well as teachers. They have always encouraged me in doing what I love and taught me to work hard, be compassionate and to first and foremost trust my heart and intuition. I continue to be inspired by their big hearts and incredible generosity.
Last and certainly not least, I give thanks to all the friends and communities including my work colleagues I have had the privilege to be connected to. These relationships have been a large part of my story and continue to offer me so much joy, inspiration, support and opportunities for growth.
